At Lebesgue, we’re obsessed with giving you the clearest, most accurate understanding of your e-commerce business. That’s why we’re excited to announce an important upcoming improvement: we’re aligning the metrics in your Lebesgue Business Report with the standard definitions used directly by Shopify!
This means even more straightforward, industry-standard insights for your e-commerce success, coming to your account real soon.
Why the Change? More Power and Simplicity for You.
We know that navigating e-commerce data can be complex. This update is all about making your analytics experience with Lebesgue simpler, more intuitive, and ultimately more powerful:
- Speak Shopify’s Language: Your Lebesgue reports will now use the same metric terms and calculations you see in your Shopify admin. This makes comparing data and understanding performance across platforms a breeze.
- Industry-Standard Clarity: Get a truer, more standardized view of your store’s sales, returns, and profitability, based on widely accepted e-commerce definitions.
- Confident Decision-Making: When your data is this clear and consistent, you can make smarter, more confident choices to grow your business effectively.

What to Expect: A Quick Overview
You’ll soon see new and refined metric names in your Business Report, such as Gross Sales, Net Sales, Total Sales, and a standard Gross Profit. This means we’re adopting a more precise and layered way of looking at your revenue and how profitable your product sales really are.
Because these definitions are more standardized and often more accurate, you might notice that some of your familiar numbers look a bit different once the update rolls out. This is a positive step! It means you’re getting a truer reflection of your business performance. For example, how returns and discounts are factored into your sales figures will be even more precise.

A Smooth Transition: Key Dates & What Happens Next
We want to make this change as easy as possible for you:
- Rollout Begins: next week, you’ll start seeing the new Shopify-aligned metrics in your Business Report.
- Transition Period: For a while, we’ll show some of your previous (legacy) metrics alongside the new ones. These will be clearly labeled to help you compare and get comfortable.
- Legacy Metrics Retired: the old legacy metric labels will be retired, and your reports will fully use the new, clearer Shopify-aligned definitions.
How Will This Impact Your Key Numbers like Profit, ROAS & AOV?
Since the way we define base revenue figures is being refined, important calculations like your overall Profitability (beyond Gross Profit), your Return on Ad Spend (ROAS), and your Average Order Value (AOV) will also be updated to use these new, more accurate foundations. This is a good thing, because it means these crucial KPIs will give you an even more reliable picture of your business health and marketing effectiveness.
